Member of Parliament and human rights lawyer, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has dismissed the widely held perception of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as a transformative leader, describing it as a media-driven narrative.
Speaking on TV3, Sosu recounted his personal experience under Dampare’s leadership, alleging that he was unfairly targeted. “I was a victim when police officers stormed my home and church with AK-47s, treating me like a criminal,” he stated.
He argued that while Dampare was projected as a reformist, his true legacy would be judged over time. “Propaganda can shape perceptions, but reality will eventually expose the truth,” he remarked, adding that governmental change would bring clarity.
Quoting an Akan proverb, he likened the situation to a dead frog revealing its full size, implying that Dampare’s tenure would face critical reassessment in the future.
