Tourism Minister urges queen mothers to be vehicles for development

In a recent address, Ghana’s Tourism Minister, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, called upon queen mothers to take a proactive role in driving development within their communities. During a meeting with the National Council of Queen Mothers in Accra, he emphasized the vital influence these traditional leaders wield in promoting tourism and cultural heritage. Dr. Awal highlighted that queen mothers possess unique capabilities to foster social change and economic growth through their leadership.

He urged them to leverage their positions to advocate for sustainable tourism initiatives that can benefit local economies. The minister also underscored the importance of collaboration between government entities and traditional authorities in achieving developmental goals. By becoming advocates for local tourism, queen mothers can help preserve Ghanaian culture while simultaneously enhancing community welfare.

Dr. Awal's appeal reflects an increasing recognition of the role of traditional institutions in national development strategies, particularly in harnessing cultural resources for broader economic advancement. This partnership could pave the way for innovative approaches to community empowerment and sustainable tourism growth across the nation.
