**Court Proceedings**
Ampofo Djan, a 52-year-old trader, faces charges in court. He is accused of conspiring and stealing two kilograms of gold. The victim is Qilin Liu, a Chinese national.
The Dansoman Circuit Court heard the case on March 20, 2025. Judge Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit presided over the session. Djan was not present during this hearing. The court has rescheduled the case for April 15, 2025. Djan must attend this next session.
**Case Background**
On December 11, 2024, Djan reported to police about a gold sale agreement. He agreed to sell two kilograms of gold to Qilin Liu. The gold was tested at City Link Metals International. However, Liu did not make the required payment.
Djan informed police that Liu was staying at Tang Palace Hotel. This led to Liu's arrest by authorities. During questioning, Liu claimed that Anthony Turkson took possession of the gold.
CCTV footage from the hotel showed both men entering Liu’s room. It also showed Turkson leaving with a bag believed to contain the stolen gold. Since then, Djan has not helped police find Turkson.
Djan has been charged and ordered to appear in court. His absence during the first hearing raised concerns about his whereabouts. The court awaits his appearance on April 15 for further proceedings.
