Daniel Agbeko, also known as Abraham Fosu, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the High Court in Accra after being found guilty of importing narcotic drugs.
In addition to the custodial sentence, he must pay a fine of 10,000 penalty units (GHC 120,000) or face an additional three years in jail.
Agbeko was convicted on three charges: conspiracy to import narcotics, illegal importation, and attempted exportation of narcotic drugs without authorization, contrary to Ghana's Narcotics Control Act 2020 (Act 1019).
The charges stem from a June 2022 incident where methamphetamine was discovered in picture frames destined for Australia.
Agbeko admitted ownership of the package and confessed to using a false identity to avoid detection. The court considered his remorse and first-time offender status before sentencing.
