Traditional Coup In Kwahu Must Be Quelled –Forum

Kwahumanhene Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II faces a serious threat. Mr. Kofi Boahen Dankwa leads the ‘Kwahu Forum for Truth’. He warns that Ghana's chieftaincy institution is at risk. A traditional coup d'état in Kwahu must be stopped immediately.

The forum claims the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II is unlawful. Installing a rival chief without proper procedure is an affront to tradition. This situation could lead to chaos if not addressed.

“This customary coup d'état must not stand,” said Dankwa. He believes it threatens the sanctity of chieftaincy across Ghana. Tolerating such actions endangers all traditional areas from similar issues.

Dankwa urges the state and Kwahu people to defend their heritage. He emphasizes that this illegal occupation harms both Daasebre and Kwahu tradition.

No charges have been filed against the Omanhene in court. The Judicial Committee of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs handles such matters legally. There has been no customary destoolment, hearings, or summons.

Despite misinformation on social media, Daasebre remains recognized as Omanhene. The new Omanhene lacks legitimate claim and customary endorsement. He has unlawfully taken over the Esono Gyimah Mampong Agyei Palace at Abene.

This usurper surrounds himself with armed guards, causing fear and division in Kwahu. Dankwa commends Daasebre for his leadership during this crisis. He chose peace over violence despite extreme provocation.

Daasebre trusts the rule of law to address this illegality. His decision has not been easy; his palace is occupied unlawfully. The people of Abene feel anxious and unsettled due to these events.

However, Daasebre remains calm and resolute amid turmoil. He hears his people's cries and has initiated legal proceedings against the imposter’s actions.

Kofi Boahen Dankwa states that Kwahuman's patience shows strength, not weakness. It reflects a commitment to justice rather than vengeance, and tradition over thuggery.
