Kwahumanhene Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II faces a serious threat. Mr. Kofi Boahen Dankwa leads the ‘Kwahu Forum for Truth’. He warns that Ghana's chieftaincy institution is at risk. A traditional coup d'état in Kwahu must be stopped immediately.
The forum claims the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II is unlawful. Installing a rival chief without proper procedure threatens the chieftaincy system. This situation could lead to chaos if not addressed.
“This customary coup d'état must not stand,” said Dankwa. He emphasized it undermines chieftaincy across Ghana. Tolerating such actions endangers all traditional areas from similar issues. He urged unity to reject this attack on their heritage.
In his press statement, Dankwa called for respect for ancestors' dignity. He stressed the need to defend the truth and protect the sacred stool from corruption.
He stated, “This illegal occupation is an affront to Daasebre.” It also attacks Kwahu tradition itself. No charges have been filed against him in the proper legal body. There has been no destoolment process or hearings.
Despite misinformation campaigns, Daasebre remains recognized as Omanhene of Kwahu. The new Omanhene lacks legitimate claim and customary endorsement. He unlawfully occupies Esono Gyimah Mampong Agyei Palace with armed guards, causing fear and division.
Dankwa praised Daasebre for his leadership during this crisis. Instead of violence, he chose peace amid provocation and lawlessness in Kwahu. “He trusts the rule of law to address this illegality,” said Dankwa.
Daasebre’s decision has been difficult but necessary for justice. The people of Abene feel anxious and unsettled by these events. However, Daasebre remains calm and resolute in facing challenges ahead.
Kofi Boahen Dankwa noted that patience is strength, not weakness. It reflects a commitment to justice over vengeance and tradition over thuggery.
