Trafigura has petitioned Ghana's Finance Minister over a $134 million judgment debt related to a terminated power purchase agreement.
The company threatens to seize Ghana's assets in South Africa if the debt remains unpaid, having already taken control of a commercial property in London.
Despite multiple attempts to settle the debt since a UK tribunal ruling in 2021, Ghana has only made partial payments.
Trafigura's frustration has led to a warning of further legal action if the government does not comply.
The situation is compounded by an additional $111.4 million in interest from a U.S. court ruling.
