Transport fares will drop by 15% starting Saturday, May 24, 2025. This change comes after an agreement between transport unions and the Ministry of Transport.
The reduction is due to the strengthening of the cedi and falling fuel prices. These factors have lowered operational costs for commercial drivers.
Samuel Amoah, Deputy Communications Director of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), confirmed this news. He stated that union leaders met on May 20 to finalize the agreement.
“A circular with the new fare reduction will be sent to all transport terminals,” Mr. Amoah said. This will ensure that every driver and conductor knows about the new fares.
