The Alliance of Drivers Ghana has announced a 20% increase in transport fares, effective Monday, March 17, citing the rising costs of fuel, engine oil, and spare parts.
Speaking on the hike, the group’s National PRO, Kwaku Boateng, criticized the 2025 budget for failing to address transport sector concerns.
“The 2025 budget came, and we heard nothing about tariff reductions, yet the Finance Minister stood and spoke the whole day,” he lamented.
Boateng noted that despite repeated appeals for relief, drivers continue to struggle with rising expenses.
He urged passengers to understand the necessity of the fare adjustment, emphasizing that it is the only way transport operators can sustain their businesses amid worsening economic conditions.
