Tree for Life initiative: 7m seedlings to be planted nationwide - Ghanaian Times

President John Dramani Mahama launched the ‘Tree for Life’ initiative last Friday. This program focuses on afforestation and agro-forestry to protect the environment.

The launch took place at Nkawie in the Ashanti Region. President Mahama noted that previous tree-planting campaigns emphasized numbers. In contrast, this initiative prioritizes sustainability and long-term benefits.

The project aims to distribute seven million seedlings of ornamental and food crops. These will go to government agencies, the private sector, and the public for planting.

“This is not just about protecting nature,” the President said. He added that it also promotes economic empowerment. The initiative will create thousands of jobs in forestry management, nursery development, and sustainable agriculture.
