Trump administration warns World Cup visitors against overstaying visas

U.S. President Donald Trump’s Cabinet has issued a warning to foreign nationals. They are advised not to overstay their visas during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The U.S. will co-host this global football tournament with Mexico and Canada. Millions of fans from around the world are expected to attend.

While welcoming visitors, U.S. officials emphasized strict immigration enforcement. They stressed that all attendees must follow visa rules and leave after the event ends. Those who violate these rules could face detention, deportation, or travel bans.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance highlighted the administration's stance on this issue. He said, “Everyone is welcome to see this incredible event.” He noted that visitors will come from nearly 100 countries. However, he reminded them they must return home when the event is over.

Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy shared similar sentiments. He encouraged visitors to explore America while attending the tournament. “Go on a road trip and see America,” he said. But he warned against overstaying visas and urged responsible enjoyment of their visit.

Duffy assured that efforts would be made for a smooth event experience. The team is committed to ensuring everything goes well during the tournament period.
