Trust in Ghana's Electoral Commission, courts, and police has sharply declined, according to the Afrobarometer survey spanning 1999 to 2022.
The EC's trust has dropped from 75% in 2005 to 33%, courts from 62% to 36%, and police from 64% to 28%.
These figures reveal a troubling trend of diminishing public confidence in institutions crucial for democracy and law enforcement.
Despite efforts by the current police leadership, restoring trust will require significant reforms and increased transparency to address systemic challenges and rebuild faith in governance and justice systems.
