Prominent Ghanaian lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata has filed a defamation lawsuit against Kofi Akpaloo, the Presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), over accusations that Tsikata supported former President John Mahama to regain access to state contracts.
The lawsuit, led by Tsikata’s legal team, seeks damages for what it calls “egregious falsehoods” harming Tsikata's reputation.
Akpaloo made the controversial remarks during a televised interview on GHOne TV, alleging that Tsikata’s endorsement of Mahama was motivated by personal gain, specifically benefiting from contracts under Mahama’s administration.
Tsikata, a former CEO of GNPC, has denied the allegations and is demanding an apology, a retraction of the statements, and punitive costs.
The lawsuit also seeks the removal of the false statements from all digital platforms associated with GHOne TV and EIB Network.
