Tuah-Yeboah defends Dame’s criticism of AG’s case withdrawals

Former Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has defended ex-AG Godfred Dame’s criticism of Dr. Dominic Ayine’s decision to drop several high-profile cases.

He argues that while the Attorney General has the discretion to withdraw cases, publicly justifying such decisions invites legal and public scrutiny.

Dame had challenged Ayine’s rationale for discontinuing cases against key NDC figures, including Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Dr. Stephen Opuni.

Ayine cited a lack of legal merit and prosecutorial misconduct as reasons for the withdrawals.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Tuah-Yeboah noted that past AGs have withdrawn cases without explanation.

Since Ayine provided reasons, Tuah-Yeboah insists that critics, including Dame, have every right to challenge the basis of his decision.

The issue remains a heated legal and political debate.
