Tullow Ghana and its partners have announced the restart of drilling in the Jubilee Field. This marks a new phase of investment in Ghana’s energy future.
The two-year program starts this May. It aims to boost oil production and improve operational efficiency at this key West African oil field.
This new campaign follows Tullow's successful four-year drilling program, which ended in December 2024. That program delivered 18 new wells six months early and under budget. It was recognized for its efficiency, safety, and cost management.
The upcoming campaign will occur in phases, starting in May 2025. Additional activities are planned for November and will continue into 2026. Tullow aims to enhance drilling management based on previous high-performance records.
Tullow Ghana Managing Director Jean-Médard Madama stated that this is an exciting moment for the company. He noted that restarting drilling is a milestone in their journey in Ghana. It shows confidence in the country's resource base, even as the field matures.
Despite being mature, the Jubilee Field remains vital for production and revenue for stakeholders. This new campaign aims to unlock further value from the field.
Recently, Tullow completed a 16-day maintenance activity at Jubilee Field. This upgrade was intended to enhance operations and reduce risks before the drilling campaign begins.
