Two Arrested for Stealing Pistol, Ammunition in Walewale

The Suspects

Police in Walewale, North East Region, have arrested two men. They are accused of stealing a pistol and ammunition from an Immigration officer.

The suspects are 18-year-old Mohammed Basit and 22-year-old Baba Rashid. They broke into the officer’s room while he was away. This incident happened around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

The suspects allegedly stole a Smith & Wesson pistol. It was loaded with ten rounds of ammunition. They also took two CZ rifle magazines, each holding 30 rounds.

Acting on intelligence, police apprehended the suspects in Kperiga. This suburb is located near Walewale. The stolen items were found hidden in a stationary vehicle.

Investigations are ongoing. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
