Two Ghanaian pilgrims reportedly die during Hajj

The Ghana Hajj Taskforce has confirmed the deaths of two pilgrims in Mecca.

These pilgrims were part of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage. About 6,000 Ghanaians are currently in Saudi Arabia for this journey.

Most pilgrims are expected to complete their pilgrimage safely. However, five individuals were sent back home due to travel document issues.

In an interview with Citi News, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini spoke about the situation. He is the Head of Corporate Affairs for the Hajj Taskforce.

He clarified that the five were not deported but repatriated. “Deportation suggests criminality,” he said. “These individuals did not commit any crime.”

The issue was related to errors in their visa issuance. Some attempts to correct visas led to unfortunate mistakes, resulting in withdrawals.

Alhaji Fuseini assured that efforts are being made to help them return.
