UE/R: Binduri Sub-Chief’s Palace attacked, one killed

Gunmen attacked the palace of a local sub-chief in Poayamire. This incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

The attack resulted in one death and two injuries. Among the victims was Naba Atamburi, the sub-chief. He was with two family members who also suffered gunshot wounds.

They were taken to Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for emergency care. Unfortunately, one injured person died on the way there.

The motive for the attack is still unclear. However, residents suspect it may relate to the ongoing Bawku conflict.

Tensions have risen recently after an alleged police shooting that killed one person. Since October 2024, at least 83 people have died due to related violence.

Security forces have not yet released an official statement about this incident. Investigations are ongoing as authorities aim to restore calm in the area.
