UE/R: Garu has no tarred roads – MP cries out

Thomas Anabah, the MP for Garu, has raised concerns about roads in his constituency. He noted that there are no tarred roads at all. Anabah blames this situation on the previous NPP administration.

On May 13, 2025, he spoke during the Point Blank segment of Eyewitness News. He explained that Garu once had tarred roads. However, these were removed for a supposed upgrade project that never happened.

He said, "We had tarred roads until some point." He added that towards the end of 2023, the NPP government gave a contract to their parliamentary candidate. This candidate was supposed to replace the tarred roads with asphalt but did nothing afterward.

Anabah emphasized that removing the roads has caused thick dust in the area. This dust has led to a 45% increase in pneumonia cases among residents. "As we speak, there isn't a meter of coal tar road in Garu," he stated. He attributed this issue directly to actions taken by the previous government.
