UE/R: Kusaug youth disappointed in Mahama's handling of Bawku conflict

President John Mahama is facing criticism from angry Kusasi youth. They are upset about rising tension in the Bawku area.

The youth claim Mahama promised to end the conflict if they voted for him. They feel he has not shown concern for their situation since he took office three months ago.

At a press briefing, the youth said, "Mr. President, we believed your promise for peace." They felt the NDC was their savior and voted against the NPP.

They reminded Mahama that he acknowledged Naana Asigri Azorka II as the legitimate chief of Kusaug. However, they question why there has been no progress on the Bawku issue.

Since Mahama became President, violence has worsened, with about 18 deaths reported. The youth asked, "Did you know more than 18 people have died since you took office?"

They expressed disappointment that Mahama used them for political gain. The group criticized politicians for exploiting the Bawku conflict for selfish reasons.

"Politicians keep dividing us with fake promises," they said. They warned that empty ballot boxes may greet politicians in 2028 due to broken promises.

"We are tired of these false assurances," they concluded.
