UEW expels postgraduate student over massive admission and certificate fraud scheme

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has uncovered a fraud scheme. This scheme was led by postgraduate student Mr. Frank Anderson. As a result, he has been expelled and faces legal action.

Mr. Anderson is an MPhil student in the Department of Special Education. He was involved in admission fraud, certificate forgery, and falsifying academic records.

The university's statement confirmed his withdrawal from the program. They are pursuing legal action for extortion and issuing fraudulent documents.

Mr. Anderson misled prospective students by claiming he could change grades. He also offered to resolve incomplete grade issues for payments between GHS 1,000 and GHS 3,000. His operations spanned Suhum, Mangoase, Nsawam, and Winneba.

Although the syndicate did not breach UEW’s grading system, they created fake results and forged WASSCE certificates. This helped clients gain admission fraudulently.

In response, UEW revoked admissions for all students who entered through these means. Students who paid to alter their grades have also been withdrawn.

Mr. Anderson is currently jailed and on trial at the Winneba High Court for similar offences. The university stated that he acted independently without authorization.

UEW reaffirmed its commitment to academic integrity. They do not condone fraudulent activities and will take strong measures against them.

Management assured the public of ongoing collaboration with law enforcement agencies to ensure accountability for all involved parties.
