UG students share why they chose Political Science

At the University of Ghana’s (UG) Political Science Department, students shared their diverse reasons for choosing this field of study.

Many were inspired by high school teachers who emphasized the value of understanding governance and politics, while others were drawn to the intellectual challenge of analyzing political systems.

Some students view political science as a path to solving societal issues, with a particular interest in governance, policy-making, and the electoral process.

They also praised the university's approach, which treats political science as a scientific discipline rather than mere partisan politics.

Students emphasized that studying here provides unique opportunities to grow intellectually and contribute meaningfully to societal development, with the University of Ghana recognized as one of the top institutions for political science in West Africa.
