The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced plans to rename the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho.
The new name will be Professor John Evans Atta Mills University of Health and Allied Sciences.
This announcement was made on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. It occurred during the inauguration of the university’s new Governing Council at the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry stated that the renaming honors the late President John Evans Atta Mills. He played a crucial role in establishing the university and supported health and education development in Ghana.
Professor Kodzo Gavua, Chair of the Governing Council, supported the renaming. He also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence and national development.
