UK increases financial requirements for international students

Starting January 2025, international students planning to study in the UK will need to meet higher financial requirements for visa applications, according to new rules from the UK Home Office.

Students in London must show savings of £1,483 per month, while those outside London will need £1,136 per month.

This marks an increase from current amounts. For a nine-month course in London, students must prove they have £13,348 in savings.

The changes are aimed at keeping pace with inflation and domestic maintenance loans.

Students who’ve lived in the UK for over 12 months on another visa are exempt from providing proof of funds.
