The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) hosted the fourth 'Nimdie Series' in Accra. This event supports the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ghana. It took place on Wednesday, May 14. The theme was “Navigating the Regulatory Environment.”
The 'Nimdie Series' aims to close the information gap for MSMEs. It provides essential knowledge for business growth and sustainability during tough times. Previous editions covered corporate governance, branding, and export readiness. This edition focused on regulatory compliance for MSMEs.
Dr. Edward Ampratwum spoke at the event. He is the Head of Inclusive Growth at UNDP Ghana. He emphasized that MSMEs are vital to the national economy. They are largely run by women and young people.
Dr. Ampratwum stated that MSMEs drive growth in Ghana. He highlighted UNDP’s commitment to inclusive development. “We aim not to leave anyone behind,” he said. He announced a new digital platform called UNDP’s Data Gateway.
This platform will centralize key regulatory information for MSMEs. It was developed with the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA). The platform will also serve as an online marketplace for MSMEs.
“We are moving to a digital space,” Dr. Ampratwum explained. This will help MSMEs trade and access vital information easily.
Mr. Charles Kusi Appiah Kubi also spoke at the event. He is a Business Consultant at Corporate Integrity Consult. He stressed that understanding regulations is crucial for business success.
“Meeting regulatory requirements is a game changer,” he noted. It helps with accessing funds and building customer trust.
Participants appreciated learning from regulators and networking with other business owners. They found value in the practical insights provided by the series.
