The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) praised Konfidants for its research. This study focused on women's reproductive health challenges in the workplace.
Konfidants surveyed women in various workplaces across Ghana. The results showed that 80% of working women face reproductive health issues. Pregnancy-related complications and severe menstrual pain were the most common problems.
UNFPA stated that these findings are "highly policy-relevant." They provide a strong basis for national discussions and workplace reforms to support women's health.
Michael Kottoh, Managing Partner at Konfidants, spoke to JoyNews about the research's importance. He said, "This data-driven evidence demands urgent attention." It can help push for better workplace policies reflecting women's real health experiences.
Dr. Miriam Rahinatu Iddrisu, Policy Adviser to the Vice President, shared updates with JoyNews. She mentioned that the government is working on breastfeeding-friendly policies for working women. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a Women’s Equity Committee to implement the Affirmative Action Bill.
In an official letter, UNFPA commended Konfidants for its important research. The agency highlighted how this evidence-based work brings visibility to often-overlooked issues.
UNFPA's recognition shows international support for Konfidants' efforts in advancing gender-responsive health policies in Ghana. The organization has committed to supporting further advocacy initiatives based on these findings.
This momentum emphasizes the need for workplace health policies that meet women's needs. It aims to create more inclusive and healthier work environments throughout the country.
