UPSA Chancellor rejects secret council meeting, raises concerns over VC investiture

The Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Dr. K.K. Sarpong, has raised serious procedural concerns about the investiture of Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor as Vice-Chancellor.

In a letter dated December 27, 2024, Dr. Sarpong explained that he would not attend the event due to legal irregularities and lack of transparency.

He revealed that a Council meeting on December 26, 2024, reversed an earlier suspension of the investiture, allegedly following legal advice, but he was not informed or invited to the discussions.

The controversy stems from a court challenge filed by UPSA alumnus Rashid Ibrahim, questioning the integrity of the promotion process.
