UPSA names hostel after NAPO for outstanding contributions to education

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has honored Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, NPP's 2024 Running Mate, by naming a newly constructed hostel after him.

The “Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh Hostel” recognizes his transformative contributions to education, particularly during his tenure as Education Minister.

The facility, which accommodates over 5,000 students, addresses accommodation challenges on campus while fostering a conducive environment for learning.

Speaking at the event, UPSA Council Chair Dr. Kofi Ohene Konadu lauded Dr. Prempeh’s instrumental role in securing funding for the project and advancing tertiary education infrastructure.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Abednego F. O. Amartey also praised Dr. Prempeh’s legacy, from championing Free SHS to improving institutions like UPSA.

This honor follows his 2021 conferral of an honorary degree by the university.
