US 10% tariff demands viable African market -AfCFTA Secretary-General

The United States recently imposed a 10 percent tariff on imports. This move should push Africa to develop a sustainable market, according to Wamkele Mene. He is the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Mene emphasized that Africa cannot depend on global markets for prosperity. He made these remarks in Accra on Saturday.

During this event, the AfCFTA Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Bar Association of the USA.

The agreement aims to enhance collaboration between AfCFTA and the USA. It will promote investment and trade opportunities between Africa and the USA. Additionally, it seeks to build capacity in various trade-related areas, including dispute settlement.
