Ghanaian blogger Albert Nat Hyde, known as Bongo Ideas, reacted to a viral video. The video shows a man insulting former President John Dramani Mahama.
Bongo Ideas pointed out that under former President Akufo-Addo, the man would have faced severe consequences. He would likely have been tortured until he passed out.
In the video, the man called Mahama a fool. He also questioned if Akonta Mining operated in Mahama's hometown of Gonja.
The man further claimed God would punish Mahama. He labeled Mahama as a dictator and a "prostitute man."
Bongo Ideas shared his thoughts on X about the incident. He stated that under Akufo-Addo, armed men would have broken into the man's home at 2 am. They would have tortured him and dumped him in a bush.
He noted that Mahama is different from Akufo-Addo in this regard.
In March 2024, Bongo Ideas was reportedly kidnapped and tortured by National Security agents. He said they beat him and warned him not to speak about Akufo-Addo again.
He recounted how men posing as police officers broke into his room at 3 am. They threatened to kill him and pointed guns at his head.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians reacted to the viral video. One person said it showed Mahama's tolerance compared to others. Another commented that misbehavior should still be addressed appropriately.
Bongo Ideas' experience during Akufo-Addo's tenure has sparked discussions among Ghanaians about freedom of speech and government actions.
