**Uneasy Calm at COCOBOD Amid Controversial Promotions**
A wave of discontent is sweeping through the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) as outgoing management, led by Joseph Boahen Aidoo, fast-tracks promotions perceived as politically motivated.
The expedited exercise, set to promote about 100 staff members, has sparked concerns among employees and political observers, particularly over claims that beneficiaries are linked to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Unlike COCOBOD's typical five-to-seven-month process, this promotion round is being finalized within two weeks.
Adding to the controversy, some staff previously denied promotions due to suspected National Democratic Congress (NDC) affiliations are now being considered, deepening allegations of bias.
The NDC, poised to take over governance on January 7, 2025, has criticized the move and pledged to reverse politically influenced appointments.
This tension risks disrupting organizational morale and relations between outgoing and incoming administrations.
