Unemployed Allied Health Professionals threaten 'demo' over delayed gov't postings

The Coalition of Unemployed Allied Health Professionals (COUAHP) has given the government a three-week ultimatum. They demand immediate action for their employment or face mass demonstrations.

At a press conference in Kumasi, Hussein Abdul Baaki spoke for the Coalition. He noted that over 3,000 qualified professionals are jobless. These individuals completed their National Service and passed licensure exams in 2019.

Baaki expressed frustration over their ongoing neglect. He pointed out that colleagues in other health sectors have found jobs and advanced in their careers.

The affected individuals have tried to engage with authorities but received no satisfactory response. “We have endured years of hardship and uncertainty,” Baaki stated. “We have done everything required of us, yet we remain unemployed.”

The Coalition is urging the government to start the recruitment process immediately. If there is no clear action within three weeks, COUAHP will protest.

They stressed that their demand goes beyond job placement. It also aims to ensure Ghana’s healthcare system is adequately staffed to provide essential services nationwide.
