Ghana is celebrating International Workers Day this year.
The Teachers and Workers Education Workers Union (TEWU) sent a message of solidarity.
The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) also shared their expectations.
King James Azortibah, General Secretary of TEWU, spoke about negotiations. He urged for quick finalization of outstanding talks to prevent unrest. This will help maintain industrial harmony.
Morgan Ayawine, General Secretary of ICU, highlighted staffing issues. He called for more kitchen and security staff in Senior High Schools. The current workforce is overstretched, affecting service delivery.
Ayawine emphasized the need for workplace safety standards. He stated it is unacceptable for members to work in hazardous conditions in 21st-century Ghana.
