United Fetish Priests President defends Sammy Gyamfi over $800 gift to Nana Agradaa

Nana Mosi Bansere is the President of the United Fetish Priest Association of Ghana. He defended Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. This comes amid calls for Gyamfi's dismissal over an $800 donation to Nana Agradaa.

Many in the public criticized this gesture. They urged President John Dramani Mahama to remove Gyamfi from his position. Nana Mosi called these reactions hypocritical and unwarranted.

“What crime has Sammy Gyamfi committed?” he asked. He noted that Gyamfi made the donation at a public event, not secretly. He questioned why politicians who give away cars and money are not scrutinized.

Nana Mosi emphasized that Gyamfi’s donation should not be seen as a bribe or corruption. He stated that Gyamfi is financially capable of making such contributions. “This was not a backdoor deal,” he said.

He explained that Agradaa requested the money, and there were no promises made in return. “So where is the wrongdoing?” he questioned further.

Nana Mosi advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership against bowing to pressure to dismiss Gyamfi. He warned that doing so could harm the party's image and unity. “Sammy Gyamfi has done nothing wrong,” he concluded, urging protection for him instead of punishment.
