Unity Hall (Conti) has denied reports linking a recent stabbing to a clash between supporters of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.
The incident happened during the New Patriotic Party’s “Thank You Tour” in Kumasi. One member of Unity Hall was injured in the altercation.
In a statement, Unity Hall clarified that the incident was criminal, not political.
They stated, “This incident has no connection to any altercation between supporters of Dr. Bawumia and those of Kennedy Agyapong.”
Unity Hall members attended the event to provide morale support through performances. Their presence should not be seen as political endorsement.
The group emphasized that CONTI is non-partisan and not affiliated with any political party or organization. They have a tradition of remaining apolitical despite frequent invitations to perform at national events.
The incident reportedly began when a man named “Maxxi” offered money to performers as appreciation. Unknown men confronted the performers, demanded the money, and brandished a firearm.
During the struggle, one member of Unity Hall was stabbed. Unity Hall confirmed this unfortunate event in their statement.
They concluded by accepting responsibility for their involvement and committing to preventing future incidents.
“We are taking steps to address the underlying issues that contributed to this occurrence,” they stated.
The group called for calm and urged the public and media not to spread unverified political narratives about the incident.
