The Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) has announced a strike. They are collaborating with the Technical University Administrators Association of Ghana (TUAAG) and the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG).
This indefinite nationwide strike starts on Wednesday, May 21. The action protests the government's failure to honor a signed agreement from six months ago.
George Ansong, National Chairman of SSA-UoG, addressed journalists in Accra. He expressed regret but emphasized their resolve to strike starting today, May 21, 2025.
He stated that this decision follows many attempts to engage with the government. Unfortunately, these efforts have been met with inaction and neglect.
Ansong noted that the government has failed to uphold its commitments. This situation undermines trust and cooperation between both parties.
