Following protests over a 25% hike in facility user fees, the University of Ghana has been directed to reduce these fees for both first-year and continuing students.
The decision came after a meeting between the Minister of Education, the Student Representative Council (SRC), and the Vice Chancellor.
Student leaders had voiced concerns that the fee increase was an unexpected financial burden.
In response, Education Minister Iddrisu instructed the Vice Chancellor to reduce the fees by 25% and ensure better future communication with the SRC.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Amfo confirmed the reduction and pledged ongoing student consultations for any future fee changes.
