Security analyst Richard Kumadoe has dismissed claims about the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB). He stated that the recent operation at Rev. John Ntim Fordjour's residence was not led by the NIB. Instead, it involved a joint team from multiple security agencies.
In an interview with TV3, Mr. Kumadoe explained how the NIB operates. When they intend to arrest someone, they follow a legal process. This includes obtaining an arrest warrant.
He noted that if they arrest without a warrant, it’s under urgent circumstances. However, they always aim to have an arrest warrant to ensure legality.
Mr. Kumadoe emphasized that having an arrest warrant means all legal procedures are followed. Once inside your premises, they can carry out the arrest without resistance.
He clarified that the operation at the MP's residence was not from the NIB. It involved various security agencies in Ghana. Even if an NIB official was present, it was for a specific assignment related to the operation.
He cautioned against politicizing the work of the NIB. He described it as a sensitive national institution whose integrity is crucial.
Mr. Kumadoe warned that undermining the NIB could harm democracy in Ghana. He rejected suggestions that politicians should dictate how security agencies operate.
“It doesn’t work that way,” he said firmly. Each case is unique and requires different approaches based on circumstances.
