Unprecedented and unbelievable – Kwame Adofo slams Attorney-General’s press conference

Private legal practitioner Kwame Adofo has condemned the Attorney-General's recent press conference. He criticized it for discussing a suspect who has not been charged. Adofo called this move "unprecedented" and concerning.

During the Asaase Breakfast show, he questioned the legality of the press conference. He stated, “It’s unprecedented. It has never happened before in this country.” He found it unbelievable that a press conference was organized for an uncharged suspect.

Adofo noted that no previous Attorney-General had done anything similar. “I cannot recall any Attorney-General doing that,” he said. He mentioned Marietta Brew and Godfred Dame as examples of past officials who did not engage in such actions.

He also criticized the language used at the briefing. The claim that the case was "criminally designed" raised his concerns.

Adofo argued that such conclusions should not be made early in an investigation. “What is mind-boggling is where I heard that everything was criminally designed,” he remarked. He emphasized that this conclusion should not come from prosecutors or police officers at this stage.
