Engr. Henry Kwadwo Boateng is the President of IET-GH. He addressed newly inducted engineering professionals in Accra. He urged them to uphold high standards of integrity.
He emphasized that engineering should include ethical responsibility. This is especially important due to concerns about corruption in procurement and infrastructure.
“This is not just a ceremony,” he stated. “It’s a moment for reflection and responsibility.” He encouraged them to think about their role in Ghana's future.
Engr. Boateng highlighted issues like waste in public institutions. He mentioned unused electrical materials at the Electricity Company of Ghana. He also noted an overstock of jute sacks at COCOBOD.
These examples raise questions about accountability, he said. “As engineering professionals, we cannot ignore these issues,” he warned. Many are involved in procurement, whether publicly or privately.
He stressed the importance of not compromising values for personal gain. Ghana’s future relies on engineers with strong moral principles, he added.
He urged inductees to reflect honesty and professionalism in their work. “Prove that engineering with integrity is our identity,” he concluded.
