Mahama Ayariga, the MP for Bawku Central and Majority Leader, condemned the killing of Mohammed Seidu Akugri. He called it “gruesome” and “dastardly.”
Mr. Akugri was shot and killed in Nangodi, near Bolgatanga. His body was later set on fire.
In a statement on May 20, Mr. Ayariga expressed condolences to Mr. Akugri's family. He referred to him as a “comrade.”
He urged law enforcement to investigate thoroughly and bring the killers to justice.
Mr. Ayariga encouraged everyone to remain calm during this time. He highlighted ongoing efforts by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for peace in Bawku.
He praised the youth of Bawku for their restraint recently. They have shown commitment to maintaining peace in the area.
Mr. Ayariga noted that progress is being made toward stability. He warned against anyone trying to disrupt the peace process.
