Urgent action needed to transform Africa’s agrifood system - Dumelo

The Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, spoke on Monday. He emphasized the need for stronger partnerships and innovation in Africa's agrifood systems.

Dumelo called for urgent action to achieve food security and economic growth. He stated, "We must move beyond business as usual."

He noted that partnerships are essential for building resilient agrifood systems in Africa. This statement was made at the 14th Regional Management Team Meeting (RMT14) of the FAO.

The meeting is taking place in Accra and lasts three days. Its theme is “Partnership, Innovation, Action, Learning.”

This year’s meeting also marks the 80th anniversary of the FAO. This milestone highlights decades of efforts toward a food-secure future for Africa.
