Adaklu district in the Volta region is set for major changes. This transformation will occur under the leadership of Jerry Yao Ameko, the new District Chief Executive (DCE).
Mr. Ameko received a 100 percent endorsement from 19 assembly members on April 2, 2025. In his acceptance speech, he thanked President John Dramani Mahama for his nomination. He also expressed gratitude to the assembly members and the Adaklu community for their support.
Mr. Ameko shared his vision for the district's future. He aims to promote year-round farming to boost agriculture. He plans to establish agro-processing industries to create jobs for youth. His administration will seek investments and partnerships while supporting large-scale farmers.
He promised to address conflicts between crop farmers and cattle rearers. Additionally, he will tackle inadequate infrastructure in the district. Mr. Ameko believes hardworking individuals can transform Adaklu into a development hub.
He noted that Adaklu has fertile land and a vibrant river for irrigation. He intends to collaborate with traditional leaders to develop these resources further. Mr. Ameko is optimistic that Adaklu can lead in agribusiness.
His administration aims for economic transformation aligned with NDC policies under President Mahama’s leadership. The 24-hour economy policy offers opportunities for small and medium enterprises.
Mr. Ameko will prioritize healthcare and sanitation improvements across the district. He also plans to support youth with vocational skills to enhance the local economy.
The DCE emphasized improving road networks and access to clean water as key goals. He wants to expand education, motivate teachers, and implement scholarship schemes for needy students.
Mr. Jerry Yao Ameko urged residents and traditional leaders to promote peace and conflict resolution in Adaklu district. He pledged integrity, diligence, and commitment to community well-being.
He also promised collaboration with stakeholders to create a peaceful environment that attracts investors. Meanwhile, Volta Regional Minister James Gunu encouraged everyone to work together with Mr. Ameko and the Mahama-led government for positive change in Ghana and Adaklu district.
