A group called the Concerned Parents of Regional Model Basic School has petitioned the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu. They demand the removal of the Ho Municipal Education Director. They allege misconduct and actions that create a poor teaching environment.
At a press conference, parents accused the Education Director of harming students' academic performance. Their complaints include unjustified teacher transfers and interference in PTA and school elections. They also oppose the imposition of the Bridge-IT programme on parents. Additionally, they are concerned about the municipal education office taking over PTA administration.
The parents claim that the Education Director has threatened to dismiss students whose parents disagree with her actions. They see this as intimidation against concerned stakeholders. The group urges the Volta Regional Minister to ensure transparency in financial management at schools.
They want an investigation into high examination fees imposed on students. The parents also question hiring a private individual to set examination papers, believing teachers should handle this task.
Emmanuel Adenyo, a member of the Concerned Parents group, presented their petition to the Regional Minister. He urged for the immediate removal of the Education Director to restore a better educational environment.
