V/R: Hofedo residents raise alarm over siting of new gas station

Residents of the Hofedo Electoral Area in Ho Municipality are worried. A new gas station is being built behind their homes. It is near the Church of Pentecost along C.K. Road to Da Abra.

The community has sent a petition to city authorities. They want immediate action to stop the project. Residents believe it poses a serious risk to their safety and violates their right to a secure living environment.

Plans for this filling station were first introduced five years ago. At that time, Town and Country Planning Department officials informed them about it. The project was abandoned after community objections, or so they thought.

Recently, construction has resumed unexpectedly. Most of the work seems to happen at night, raising suspicion among locals. One resident said, “This development infringes on our civil liberties and puts our lives at risk.”

They are urging the Ho Municipal Assembly and other authorities to intervene quickly.

In response, Ho Municipal Chief Executive Stephen Adom spoke with residents. He assured them that the Assembly is taking their concerns seriously. An investigation will be conducted to protect everyone's safety and interests.

Meanwhile, Mr. David Debre, the gas station owner, defends the construction. He claims he has obtained all necessary permits before starting work.

Tension remains high as residents await a resolution. Calls for city officials to prioritize community safety over business interests are growing louder.
