The Volta Regional Police Command has intercepted a large sum of money. The cash was hidden in fertiliser bags on a commercial vehicle. This occurred at the Juapong Snap Check Point.
DSP Felix Danku from the Public Affairs Unit confirmed the operation. It took place on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, around 4:45 p.m.
Police acted on intelligence and stopped a Ford Transit bus. The bus was heading to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. A search revealed 68 fertiliser bags filled with one-cedi notes and coins.
The total amount found was GH¢1,021,700. During questioning, the driver, Edward Ansah, provided information to police. He said an unknown person in Kumasi hired him to transport the money from Ho.
Ansah is now in custody and helping with investigations. The police will provide further updates as the investigation continues.
