In a surprising move, Togbe Hodo, the Paramount Chief of Anfoega Traditional Area, has banned all activities of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his area.
His decision stems from a disagreement with President John Dramani Mahama. The President nominated a District Chief Executive (DCE) that Togbe Hodo did not support.
Reports suggest he felt disrespected after calling the President to recommend Madam Solace Dzeble for the position. Angered by the President's choice, he prohibited two Sub Chiefs from voting on Mr. Ernest Adevoh’s nomination.
Despite this ban, Mr. Adevoh was confirmed as DCE without issues. He received 30 out of 32 votes, with only two against him.
After being sworn in, DCE Ernest Adevoh promised to work hard for everyone in the district. He stated that he would collaborate with the local MP to achieve the President's RESET agenda.
Celebrations erupted throughout the constituency following the confirmation ceremony. Honorable Joycelyn Quashie, the local MP, commented on Togbe Hodo's boycott decision.
She emphasized that chiefs are vital for inclusivity and development. She plans to engage with Togbe Hodo to resolve their differences amicably.
The MP also committed to working with Mr. Adevoh for development in North Dayi Constituency. The confirmation event included many NDC executives and regional leaders in attendance.
