As Ghana marks International Women’s Day 2025, Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called for collaborative efforts to break barriers and create equal opportunities for women.
In a video message, she emphasized that empowering women is a national priority, not just a gender issue.
She highlighted Ghana’s progress, particularly the election of a female Vice President, and urged further action to advance women’s roles in business, governance, education, and leadership.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang commended President Mahama’s administration for initiatives like the Women’s Development Fund and affirmative action policies, which aim to enhance women’s representation in leadership.
However, she acknowledged that more work remains to achieve full gender equality.
She concluded with a call for national commitment, stating, “Let us reaffirm our dedication to building a Ghana where every woman has the freedom to dream, the power to achieve, and the support to excel.”
