The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced that its members will only resume work at the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly after a stakeholders' dialogue is held to address the safety concerns of local government workers.
This follows a strike initiated on January 29, 2025, after two staff members of the Akatsi Municipal Assembly were attacked during a field visit on January 17, 2025.
Despite police presence, the officers were assaulted again by residents, and the situation has raised concerns over the safety of workers in the municipality.
CLOGSAG’s national executives have called for an immediate investigation into the incident and urged local authorities, including the police and traditional leaders, to ensure the safety of workers.
The Volta Regional Secretary emphasized that operations in the municipality will remain on hold until proper action is taken.
