VRA Senior Staff picket against proposed merger with Bui Power Authority

On September 18, 2024, senior staff of the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) staged a protest at the VRA headquarters in Accra.

They opposed a draft bill proposing the merger of VRA with the Bui Power Authority and the consolidation of ECG with NEDCo. The protesters fear the changes will harm VRA’s operations.

Theophilus Tetteh Ahia, Chairman of the VRA Senior Staff Association, called for the immediate withdrawal of the bill, expressing concerns about the VRA's future viability.
